Amboyna Burl Heartwood/Sapwood & Cobalt Ring

Making this style of ring is a test of every technique (and dirty trick) I have developed over the years to manipulate wood & metal. This style features wood on both the interior & exterior of the ring.

It can be made with any wood you see in my shop. Amboyna burl, the burl of Narra, more commonly known as Padauk is, I say with no trace of hyperbole, among the rarest & most sought-after woods in the world.

in fact, if you look up burl in wikipedia, Amboyna is singled out for mention as a rare burl. The outer portion of this ring is made of Cobalt - the most scratch resistant & shatterproof material I offer.

Like titanium it is hypoallergenic & biocompatible. However, in many circumstances under which your Titanium ring might scratch, Cobalt will not.

It is an alloy that is identical to Platinum in color, but it is an order of magnitude stronger. Cobalt offers nearly the scratch resistance of Tungsten Carbide, but unlike Tungsten, Cobalt will not shatter if dropped.

The ring is satin. 8mm total width 2mm dual wood exterior with two 35 degree supports set 180 degrees from each other These details cannot be changed.

This is the first Cobalt ring with a wood interior & exterior ever offered. I highly recommend going to a jewelry counter to determine your size, even if you already know your size.

Do it yourself ring sizing methods (string, etc. ) should absolutely not be trusted.

Each ring is given multiple coats of a hybrid epoxy finish, which is completely water-proof & soap proof. This protective coating is sanded up to 12,000 grit for an unbelievable, glass-like finish.

All rings ship via USPS Priority (or Priority International) Small Flat Rate Box. If you are outside the US & Canada, your only shipping option is Global Express.
